Math , modelling , needed help ? - 16.40 15.70 15.30 15.20 15.21

You have a table that the average body mass index (BMI) among women of different ages in the United States in 2000. This question shows use of technology to summary: The data points in a chart?. Set all variables and all parameters clearly indicate what type of model behavior chart? to explain why he chose this role?
AGE BMI
2 16.40
3 15.70
4 15.30
5 15.20
6 15.21
7 15.40
8 15.80
9 16.30
10 16.80
11 17.50
12 18.18
13 18.70
14 19.36
15 19.88
16 20.40
17 20.85
18 21.22
19 21.60
20 21.65
I know that the sin of a function can be used, but do not know the reason for it and the parameters and variables in this context. My sin is simnilar according to the table. thank you guys

I have the numbers in an Excel table (two columns).

Then, create a cloud of points (x, y)-values.

Finally, I have an order (polynomial trend line 3) and told him to show the function.

He came with this setting for a "better"
y = 0.0041x ^ 3 + 0.1536x ^ 2 - 1.2757x + 18,273

Choose a polynomial of 3rd OK, because I suspect there is a bath when they are younger, and maybe when I grow up, but I think it depends on a perfect model as a sin wave.
